The Dark Dreamweaver by Nick Ruth: Review
The first in The Remin Chronicles
(available at Amazon.com for $10.16)

The day starts off with David and his parents looking for butterfly eggs to collect and watch hatch. Who knew one of the caterpillars that would hatch from the egg would be a cursed wizard? A cursed wizard from another world. A cursed wizard from another world linked to Earth by the stuff dreams are made of. And that's just the beginning!

An eclectic cast of characters emerges from the pages of this book aimed at 9-12 year olds, as David takes his place in an adventure to save not just his world, but the dream world of Remin as well.

Beyond its entertainment value, The Dark Dreamweaver (don't let the title fool you , it isn't "dark" in its storytelling at all), is also educational. Rich vocabulary, thought provoking decisions and science is woven through the tale.

Houdin, the cursed wizard, goes through the life cycle of a butterfly and is an important part of the book.

For educators there is a host of topics that can be studied when finished reading The Dark Dreamweaver, and a free teacher's guide is available to complement the award winning book.

In celebration of the book's 5th anniversary, Imaginator Press is sponsoring a contest for children up to the age of 14, to write a creative story on the theme "Dream Power". 10 children will receive a prize, 1st place will be an 8GB Ipod Touch, 2nd & 3rd prizes Itunes giftcards. All children that participate really will come out ahead though because an original creative story is always an accomplishment. The contest is open until 10/31/09 and you can read the official rules and grab an entry form here.

Get the juices flowing for the kids you know, and read The Dark Dreamweaver. It will be sure to activate their "Dream Power".

Please read **About Reviews at the bottom of this page. I received a free review copy of The Dark Dreamweaver from Imaginator Press so I could read it prior to writing this review.
