Book Review & Giveaway - Taken

Tuesday, January 27, 2009 Leave a Comment

An adoring mother, who has always provided every want and need for her daughter, is at a loss at the depression that her daughter is suffering from being childless. The one thing her daughter wants is a child, and all avenues have come up null. Until Anna, takes a quick visit to the mall before visiting her daughter Leslie, and walks out of the stores with not just a new outfit, but a baby as well.

Assuring herself that it was a mission from God, that prompted her to do this for her daughter, she dismisses the angst away. She doesn't know though, that the mother of the abducted child is bi-polar.

Add an evil best friend into the mix, who falsifies adoption papers for the family, and you have a suspenseful page turning book.

A host of dysfunctional females are at the center of this book, and the men that share their relationships, so action, mayhem and catfights are penned upon each page.

I did read this book fairly quickly as the story engaged me. The writing flows, and it is easy to get caught up in it. Using the television rating system, I would rate this book for MA for Mature as there is L, V and S themes throughout the book.

Taken is Julie Garland's first novel, she just released The Mirror in December 2008.
Thanks to authorhouse for the opportunity to review this book.
